Not a Gujarati, yet I love Navratri! – Dimple Jhangiani

The pretty lady Dimple Jhangiani who was last seen in Colors Beintehaa as Barkat is not a Gujarati by caste, but loving the festival and having fun is something we should learn from this petite actress. In this candid chat with us, Dimple speaks about her inclination towards this nine days dance festival, clothing and a lot more. Read on!

What are your plans for Navratri this year?

“For Navratri, this year I will be going to Jabalpur this year for an event of Mega Dandiya on September 28. I am going there for a special presence organized by the event company. Navratri is a very colorful festival. For me Dandiya for nine days is so much fun because we can just sneak out of the house giving dandiya’s excuse (chuckles). You enjoy the festival with all the fun and frolic along with which you get that feeling of faith and devotion for the deity too. Personally, this festival is not only limited to Gujarati’s; living in Mumbai, everyone celebrates all festivals. So, I completely enjoy this colorful festival.”

Did you learn any steps of Garba living and playing the same in Mumbai for all these years?

“I live in Chembur (Mumbai) near Ghatkopar which is called the mini Gujarat of Mumbai. Every year I go out with my friends and have such a blast. We totally get that feeling of being in Gujarat and celebrating that special festival. I have been a part of a Gujarati show Hum Dono Hain Alag Alag where some or the other celebrations used to come up and we had to dance on the choreographed garba dance. So by now I have learned the basics of garba and dandiya.”

What about the typical Chaniya Choli?

Wearing that typical and authentic dress Chaniya Choli is a must. One of the days you have to wear that and I make sure my friends and I wear it. Nowadays, people wear the typical dress kust for clicking pictures and putting up as their display pictures too (laughs).

Your favourite Navratri song…

Evergreen songs of Navratri are sung by Falguni Pathak only. So my favorite has to be one by her. I love Oodhani Ude a lot. But yes, I love all Falguni Pathak songs.

Well, we wish Dimple a very Happy Navratri!
